Hi, it’s lovely to meet you! My name is Janaya Andrews & I am a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) with the BCACC. My pronouns are she/her. I am thankful to work, live, and play on the traditional lands of the Cowichan Tribes, here on Vancouver Island. I graduated with my Master’s degree from Yorkville University, after completing a 10-month practicum with clients. Prior to that, I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Victoria.
Outside of therapy hours, you can find me immersed in nature. Running & hiking are my activities of choice, however, I do love sitting under a tree with a good book. I’ve been learning how to garden - with many failures amongst the successes, it has taught me many lessons, the first being patience.
My therapeutic approach is primarily narrative-based, although I like to pull as many different modalities as we need. Oftentimes, mindfulness, CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy), existentialism, IFS (internal family systems) and DBT (dialectical behavior therapy) work their way into our sessions too. I primarily approach couples therapy with the Gottman Method, although I am open to whatever approach you feel comfortable with.
Together we will explore your inner self, the relationships that surround you, and the desired lifestyle that you seek. Starting therapy is not easy - if you have made it here, no matter what you decide to do, you have taken the first step & you should be proud of yourself!
I look forward to seeing you in session.
